1. Submerged arc furnaces are evolving towards higher power capacities and larger sizes to enhance thermal efficiency and productivity, as well as to meet the process requirements of high-power-density smelting.


2. Low-frequency (0.3–3 Hz) smelting is employed to conserve energy and improve product quality.


3. Systems for flue gas dedusting and energy recovery are incorporated.


4. A hollow electrode system has been developed; fine-grained feed materials can be introduced through the hollow electrodes, thereby saving energy, reducing electrode consumption, and stabilizing the molten pool.

6. Computerized process software systems tailored to the specific requirements of various submerged arc furnace processes have been developed to guide smelting operations and optimize performance, resulting in improved product quality, reduced energy consumption, and increased output.
