Currently, metallurgical machinery is evolving towards compact structures, efficient drive systems, intelligent control, green production, and high product precision, while actively exploring the integrated application of emerging technologies. Structural innovations include upgraded support roll designs and more compact, scientifically optimized roll configurations, ensuring uniform, stable straightening forces and higher forming precision. Drive systems now feature proprietary new servo-hydraulic technology that enhances efficiency, saves energy, and significantly reduces operating noise. Equipment is increasingly equipped with intelligent control systems to enable automated operations and remote monitoring; in the future, intelligent technologies will permeate the entire process chain in an integrated manner. China's first intelligent workshop covering the entire bar and wire production line was developed; utilizing technologies such as artificial intelligence and digital twins, it achieved "digital-intelligent" rolling with smart combustion, operation, monitoring, and maintenance. Pioneering technologies were developed for automatic edge-aligned train loading, non-stop navigation of crane path inflection points, autonomous material and obstacle recognition, autonomous decision-making, precise execution, and intelligent crane scheduling.

Regarding sustainability, energy-efficient design and environmental upgrades have become standard features. A new energy-saving bag-type dust collector-featuring a top vertical air inlet-was successfully developed, alongside a multifunctional filter medium that is resistant to condensation, high temperatures, acid/alkali corrosion, and oxidation, while also being flame-retardant. Energy consumption dropped from 1.12 GJ/t to 0.98 GJ/t (cold billet), and oxidation loss decreased from 0.83% to 0.60%. Technologies developed include "high-speed precision rolling + low-temperature finishing + intelligent temperature control" for online microstructure regulation during thermo-mechanical rolling, as well as a segmented, ultra-long-distance intelligent feed-forward temperature control process; rolling speeds increased from 18 m/s to 41 m/s, while finishing temperatures dropped from 950°C to 800°C. The country's first online negative tolerance control system was invented, integrating 3D vision measurement, laser speed and length measurement, and big data technologies and equipment; the negative tolerance bandwidth was narrowed from ±0.4% to ±0.25%. Efforts are currently underway to develop and promote the industrial application of methanol engines, hydrogen fuel cells, and hydrogen metallurgy technologies and equipment. China's specialized metallurgical equipment manufacturing industry has successfully achieved technological self-reliance in key processes such as coking, sintering, ironmaking, steelmaking, continuous casting, and rolling. Statistics show that the export value of my country's specialized metallurgical equipment rose from $1.847 billion in 2019 to $3.147 billion in 2024. However, there remains significant room for improvement in domestic manufacturing technology compared to advanced international standards.
