1. Product Description
The main function of the silicon ladle (i.e., the container used for holding molten silicon, commonly referred to as a hot metal ladle or silicon ladle) is to receive and transport high-temperature molten silicon during the tapping process, ensuring production continuity and operational safety.
For silicon metal electric furnaces, if the hot metal in the ladle contains impurities that need to be removed (such as excessive carbon or iron), bottom oxygen blowing through the ladle is required. During this process, oxidation reactions occur (such as Si + O₂ → SiO₂), and the generated oxides enter the slag, thereby purifying the molten silicon.
Based on many years of in-depth research on the damage mechanisms of refractory materials used in silicon metal ladles, as well as methods for improving refractory service life and operational safety, our company has developed a special gas permeable brick for silicon metal applications. In view of the ladle bottom-blowing refining principle and the shortcomings of traditional products - including short service life and easy blockage of oxygen-blowing copper pipes - this newly developed porous plug is mainly manufactured from chrome corundum material.
The gas permeable brick features high refractoriness, excellent compressive strength, and superior thermal shock resistance. According to refining requirements, scientifically designed slit dimensions and slit quantities are adopted for oxygen-blowing refining, which can effectively prevent blockage by molten silicon and significantly extend the service life of the ladle gas permeable brick.
