1. Product Description
The low-voltage reactive power compensation device for submerged arc furnaces is connected in parallel at the end of the bus tube. It consists of low-voltage AC filter capacitors and filter reactors, forming an LC filtering compensation circuit for phase-by-phase local compensation. The system reduces reactive power losses in the submerged arc furnace while simultaneously absorbing harmonics generated by unbalanced loads and electric arc smelting processes (mainly the 3rd and 5th characteristic harmonics), thereby reducing three-phase imbalance and effectively improving the power factor.


Composition of the Low-Voltage Reactive Power Compensation System for Submerged Arc Furnaces
1. Main Circuit: The main circuit consists of the compensation bus tube, isolating switch, fuses, vacuum contactors, low-voltage AC filter capacitors, and filter reactors, etc.
2. Control System: The control system consists of a controller, signal transmitters, control command signals, switching drive units, on-site command signals, interface information control modules, and low-voltage side protection signals.
When the smelting process begins, the system detects signals (high-voltage or low-voltage electrical signals) and calculates the required reactive power compensation based on system voltage, current, load, and power factor. The controller then sends signals to the drive unit, which operates the vacuum contactors to switch the compensation units in or out of operation until the control targets set by the controller are achieved.

⑺ Optimized Management
The microcomputer-controlled compensation device can automatically print daily reports, record power outage durations, automatically calculate and print active and reactive energy consumption data, thereby improving the management and operational efficiency of the electric furnace system.
